Happy 4-Week Birthday, Lydia!!!

Happy 4 weeks Lydia!!! She's even wearing cupcakes to celebrate. :)

I can hardly believe that Lydia is 4 weeks old! As a kid I used to think that adults were crazy when they said kids grew up too fast, I was like, "Are you kidding? Growing up takes forever!" But now I know what they were talking about! She's growing up WAY too fast!

Our lily flower plant out on our deck as also been blooming for about four weeks! It only blooms once each year, and for weeks before Lydia was born, it looked like it was going to bloom. But it waited for Lydia to come! :) It's been so nice looking at it out our window each day and watching humming birds come up to it, but I don't think they get anything when they try to drink from it...we'll have to put out our humming bird feeders here soon!

This Sunday Lydia and I made it to church for the first time since Lydia was born! It was HARD because church for us starts at 8:30am and these days Lydia gets up about every one to two hours to eat. Usually she and I sleep until 11:30am during the week so we can get about 8 hours of sleep. It was definitely tricky getting ready by 8:30 this Sunday, but Lydia and I made it and she looked so beautiful in her little dress that Grandma Harper got for her! :)

We came home from church and slept for hours! It was great. Lydia struggles to sleep unless Mitch or I are laying right next to her, and sometimes she likes to check that we're still there by reaching out to touch our nose. :) She loves to lay completely flat, and she sleeps really well on our bed...too bad it's not safe for her to sleep there at night!

Her favorite sleep position of all though is lying on your chest. :) It's easy to let her rest there after burping her, and one of our absolute favorite things about Lydia is that when we put her over our shoulders to burp her, she likes to lift her head to look around. Suddenly her little face will pop up right in front of ours just a centimeter or so away and she looks at us with her little head bobbing around and it's the cutest thing in the world!!!

It's been two days since we started putting her in the pack n' play to sleep at night, and it's great! She loves it in there by our bed at night. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma Steed for buying it for her!

This last week Lydia had her first fever/stuffy nose. :( It was hard for her to eat or sleep and I am SO grateful that Mitch is worthy and able to give her a Priesthood blessing. It was her first blessing ever, and I am so thankful that God has provided the Priesthood to help us in times of difficulty/sickness. After that and some children's Tylenol, she felt all better in the morning!

Yesterday Lydia went with me to a surprise baby shower for Emy, a friend in our ward! Our friend Valeria asked me and our friend Hannah to help decorate and Hannah found this polka-dot garland on Pinterest!

I found three things I could use to make circles, cut out six of each size in each color and laid them out randomly on the floor. Mitch said they looked like planets. :)

After taping them to a string we hung it up and it came out so cute!

Hannah also found an idea of using Onesies to decorate, using clothes pins to hang them up on a string. It came out great, and it was a wonderful surprise shower!

Well, as I type this, Lydia is asleep on my chest here on the sofa, so I think I'm going to take a nap with her too now! Thanks for reading!
