Calming Colic with the 5 S's!!! And other updates!

Image
So many exciting things have happened since I last posted! One of which was we bought a piano for Father's Day! It was Mitch's first Father's Day and it was so exciting to be the first to wish him a happy Father's Day. I am SO excited to have an electric piano in our apartment. It is CRAMMED at our place, but we have loved playing it so much! Mitch has played piano forever and he's currently working on learning "Rhapsody in Blue," the ending credits from the movie E.T. and the intense and often dissonant yet beautiful organ music from one of his favorite movies, Interstellar ! It's exciting because since we have a key to our local church building, we can go during the week and Mitch can practice it on the real organ! It's pretty exciting! Myself, I'm learning "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star".....:p I'm learning to play the piano with Mitch teaching me using the Suzuki Method! I am SO excited, I have wanted to learn how ...

Portuguese Dual Immersion Video for My Students :)

Image
:) For the last two years I have had the best job ever!!! I've taught first grade Portuguese dual immersion, which means I am a regular first grade teacher to Ame...

Happy 4-Week Birthday, Lydia!!!

Image
Happy 4 weeks Lydia!!! She's even wearing cupcakes to celebrate. :) I can hardly believe that Lydia is 4 weeks old! As a kid I used to think that adults were crazy when they said kids grew up too fast, I was like, "Are you kidding? Growing up takes forever!" But now I know what they were talking about! She's growing up WAY too fast! Our lily flower plant out on our deck as also been blooming for about four weeks! It only blooms once each year, and for weeks before Lydia was born, it looked like it was going to bloom. But it waited for Lydia to come! :) It's been so nice looking at it out our window each day and watching humming birds come up to it, but I don't think they get anything when they try to drink from it...we'll have to put out our humming bird feeders here soon! This Sunday Lydia and I made it to church for the first time since Lydia was born! It was HARD because church for us starts at 8:30am and these days Lydia gets up about every ...

Photo Fun!

Image
I decided the other day that it would be fun to take some newborn pictures. I got a bunch of ideas on Pinterest of different poses to can try! :) Here are a few pink ones I did with a cute dark pink blanket that my student Hannah gave to Lydia, (the other side has flamingos on it!) a little light pink blanket my Mom gave Lydia, and a butterfly Great-grandma Robison gave to Lydia that we've attached to her crib.  I've also been learning how to use GIMP, the free photo editing program. It's been a lot of fun watching youtube videos to learn how to use it. I'm still very much a beginner, but I'm enjoying it a lot! Here is a BEAUTIFUL quilt my Mom made for Lydia! It is called Tropical Sunset! Lydia loves it already. Here is an idea I saw on Pinterest! I kind of cut out the tape measure on this one, but I LOVE how it turned out! :D She was born at 4:05am as shown on the clock, weighed 8 pounds, 6 ounces on May 20th (hard to see) and techn...

First weeks home, first Family Home Evening, first bath and other firsts. :)

Image
It's so exciting for us that everything we do with Lydia almost is the first time she has experienced it. First time in her swing, first time looking at the sky, first time riding in a car, etc. Though she won't remember these firsts, it's nice we can document them and take tons of pictures. :) Monday night we had our first Family Home Evening with Lydia. :) We went to the Provo Temple and went on a walk around the grounds. We explained to her that this is God's house, a holy place. We will be a family forever, even after this life because of Jesus Christ and the promises we made with Him in the Temple when we were married. We also showed her the bench where we sat on my birthday in 2012 when we first said, "I love you," to each other. :) Monday the 25th was the first time Lydia ever had a bath! Well, a bath at our home. I am SOOO glad that Mitch worked as a CNA in a hospital in Bountiful before we got married. I seriously thought that with all of...
